When Zero Tolerance, a Scottish charity, offered me the opportunity to illustrate six podcasts recorded by Edinburgh-based theatre-maker and storyteller Mara Menzies, otherwise known as Mara the Storyteller, I was immediately inspired by her enchanting stories and remarkable characters that captivate imaginations, defy gender stereotypes and encourage children to be whomever they want to be!

I translated Mara’s inspiring narratives into illustrations as a part of the Book Week Scotland You Can Be Storytelling Time project in 2020. These illustrations and Mara’s podcasts were then featured in the You Can Be Campaign by Zero Tolerance, which helps children to reach their full potential by combating harmful stereotypes.
